A squirrel, cicadas, and a baby bee

Earlier this month I went to the Omega Institute for a weekend animal communication workshop with my wonderful teacher, Danielle MacKinnon. I knew this was going to be a fun refresher, but I had no idea what was in store!

Our mission on the final morning - go into the environment and talk to the wild animals. A new one for me, I thought, OK, I’ll find some cute furry beings to talk to. But the animals have a way of guiding us to open our hearts and minds, always trying to teach us. I started out seeking the cute squirrel. He hung with me for a short time.

His message: “Be calm, stay in balance and in harmony with the moment…” then he was gone. He was preparing me.

No matter how hard I tried, I could not get away from the noise of the cicadas overhead. Buzzing in waves of three swarms, high up in the tress. The more I tried to look for another cute fuzzy being the louder they got! OK, I thought, you guys win (even though bugs are NOT my fave).

And here’s what they told me: “From one end to the other, we collectively communicate. Our job is to help create balance and alignment with the atmosphere. And I should “pay attention to all that is around me”, as well, to be in balance and alignment.

I thanked them, opened my eyes and looked down at my hand.

There he was, a baby bee siting on my hand. Really? After spiders, the next in line for “bug fear” are bees.

I took a deep breath. Instead of freaking out, this was my opportunity to learn. I re-connected with the baby bee, asked what he wanted to share and waited. “Pure joy in the moment”, he said.

I could feel his awareness of his surroundings and his joy in the moment. And off he went! I think their messages were clear, and something I will continue to work on. 🐿 🦗 🐝
